First South Asian Capital Markets Conference – Colombo Sri Lanka
SAFE, proudly came out to the world with its first thematic conference ever in November 2006 in Colombo Sri Lanka. The theme chosen for the first ever conference was Regional Co-operation. The fact behind choosing the theme was a growing phenomenon of regional integration and globalization and the growing belief that capital market integration is the best way to stimulate competition and therefore improve the competitiveness of an economy in a global setting.

The event not only gathered great decision makers, policy originators, think tanks, government representatives on one forum to show the world that the South Asian region has reached an important milestone to mark its future development to the world, it also brought together capital market experts to lay a roadmap for enhancing regional cooperation and to seek innovative model to facilitate cooperation in garnering a major share of the world’s growth capital market. This has certainly guided SAFE in the next decade.
